Summer 2010 Intern – Statistics and Analysis
The Statistics and Analysis (S&A) intern functions as an analyst by analyzing financial data and information from three business units in S&A, and by working on other special projects to help achieve strategic goals and operating efficiency. The intern will be assigned a portion of the total reporting population for the reports listed below. He/She will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the financial data and information prior to submitting it to the Board of Governors. He/She will achieve this by reviewing the data in our mainframe system and doing additional analysis to identify erroneous data. He/She will talk with staff at the banks and at the Board on a regular basis as well as with S&A staff when resolving reporting issues/inaccuracies. In addition to working on assigned reporting series, he/she will process branch and credit union transactions. He/She may also work on special projects with other staff members or by oneself.
Responsibilities:
1. Ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial and structure reports and data using basic analysis, editing techniques, and established policies and procedures. Specific reports assigned include, but are not limited to the FR Y-6, FR2900Q, FR2910a, and Reg. U (G-1 and G-2).
2. Processes and analyzes branch transactions to ensure accuracy and accordance with department procedures.
3. Participate in Bank Intern Expo, creating a display containing information about the intern experience in S&A.
4. Participates in all unit meetings (all 3 units), Info Sharing meetings, S&A department meetings, and other meetings as scheduled.
5. Completes special project as assigned.
Requirements:
1. Working towards Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting
2. Financial Analysis experience through school projects or internships
3. Must have experience with Excel, Access, and Word. Experience with QMF is a plus.
4. Ability to work in a deadline driven environment
5. Problem Solving Skills: 1) Interpersonal communication: Requires communicating well with people at different levels, frequently sharing information with others while listening to and understanding their points of view. 2) Logical analysis: Requires thinking through and solving problems step by step, often looking beyond the obvious solution to a problem and digging deeper for the best solution
6. Complete special projects as assigned: may participate and assist in field examination or inspection of a state member bank or bank holding company
